Discovery Museum

Connor and I decided to go to the discovery museum this week. I went all by myself (miracle). I packed a lunch for both of us and off we went.
There are two parts to the museum, one for younger kids and then older. Connor was in heaven with the balls. He was a ball horder that's for sure. I loved watching him discover things and try to figure out cause and effect.
I am obviously new to this mommy thing and haven't gone to to many public places for kids yet, but I was very observant to my surroundings that day. There are a wide range of kids and adults out there.
First we ran into the weirdos. This dad was there with his 42 month old son. Yes, that is how he responded when I asked how old his kid was. He says he hasn't reached a few milestones yet, so I say 42 months. He then goes on to tell me that he is teaching his kid sign and how wonderful it is. Ok. Multiple people asked how old Connor was and commented on how good his walking was. When I say he walked at 9 months, some went on to say, "well my kid did this...." trying to one up me or something. It was weird. Your kid didn't walk at 9 months, who cares, I'm sure they are fine. I'm not lying either, nor am I saying it to show off my child. It's just how it is people.
Second we run into the crazies. There was a huge train track area. Connor wasn't really too interested until other kids stated doing stuff. Then he wanted to destroy it. He took one little train (mind you the kid had almost all of the trains) and he went crazy. Full on break down, screaming bloody murder. Ummmm, it was awkward. I gave the train back and picked up Connor to go somewhere else. Pretty sure him and his mom left after that, the kid couldn't recover, it was crazy. A little while later, we were back at the trains. Same thing, only with a different kid this time. He just yelled and cried then tried pushing Connor over. Awesome. Uh, how do kids get like this because I don't want mine to be!!
Third were the normal children. This mom just talked to me about stuff to do in the area and her kid was nicely playing and doing his thing. Another mom had a 2 yr old and an 11 month old. Connor looked so much older due to his walking ability and shedding of baby chub. They liked staring at eachother though, it was cute. Connor broke the kids track, and this kid was fine, just put it back together like no big deal. I want a 2 yr old like that.
All in all, the discovery museum was an interesting experience. It was nice to get out of the house and only have to pay for me, since he is free.
