Man do I love the Cougars! Only problem, is I have SO much anxiety watching them. I'm up and than I'm down and than I'm excited and crushed all in a matter of minutes...all for the love of sports.
Last night playing Gonzaga was AMAZING! Jimmer did amazing as always but the rest of the team stepped up, it was a great team victory.
As I'm sure many have heard what happened to Brandon Davies and the violation of the BYU Honor Code. I've gotten to discuss with many friends/co-workers about BYU and the expected standards held when attending the school, the Mormon church and many other moral beliefs. With the many conversations I've had, it's been about a 50/50 split with those agreeing and not agreeing with the suspension of Davies from the basketball team. There's only one thing I heard/read about that made me so unbelievably ANGRY. We listen to the radio at work, flipping through the channels all day. It was a few days after word spread that Davies had been suspended. We were on this station and the radio annoucer started commenting about Davis and the BYU honor code. His comments were so offensive and totally ignorant that it made me so ANGRY that people think the way he does about others who actually have morals and want to follow the rules. Good thing it was the end of the day and I got to leave and vent to myself in the car.
Going to BYU was great choice for me, and signing the Honor Code wasn't that big of deal either. To others it may sound ridculous that I was "forced" to follow this code of conduct, but I can proudly say I am proud to be a Mormon and proud of the fact that I am a moral individual, even though others mock in disbelief.
GO COUGARS!! Sweet 16 baby
